We are talking about Kalyani Bhavna Shivhare of Chidawad village of Dewas district of Madhya Pradesh. With a resolve to overcome financial crisis and change her fate, Bhavna became a member of Krishna Self Help Group of the village’s Ajeevika Mission. Bhavna’s fate started changing. Bhavna was made the secretary of the group. All the women showed collective discipline, so Bhavna got a loan from the Rural Livelihood Mission. When she got the first loan of Rs 50,000, Bhavna invested the savings of the house in an already running restaurant. Her brother helped her in running the restaurant. Then she got a second loan of Rs 20,000, and Bhavna made her restaurant even better. After this, when she got Rs 75,000 as the third loan, she started a ration shop. Bhavna’s financial condition started getting stronger with the ration shop.

Bhavna says that she understood the nuances of the Bank Sakhi group from Ajeevika Mission and has also taken some training. She is also getting the benefits of all the government schemes. Along with getting the Ayushman card, Bhavna has also got herself insured under the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Yojana by opening a PM Jan Dhan account.

After joining the self-help group, Bhavna is earning around 10 thousand rupees per month from the ration shop received from Ajeevika Mission. She is earning 20 thousand rupees per month from the restaurant run with the help of her brother.

Bhavna now wants to start goat rearing business so that she can become financially strong. Bhavna, who earns more than 1 lakh rupees a year, is now very happy. She repeatedly expresses her gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav for running many self-employment schemes for the economic independence of many women like her.

The prospect of a permanent home has now come closer

Rain brings happiness to everyone. But people living in kutcha houses get scared by the sound of rain. Rania Bai Kol, who lives in ward no. 23 of Shahdol city of MP, also used to live in a kutcha hut. Many of her generations lived in this hut-like house in the hope of getting a pucca house. But now Rania Bai’s luck has turned. She has been approved for a pucca house under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban). The house was ready in no time and now she lives happily in this house with her family.

Rania Bai, who runs her family by doing daily wage labour, recalls her bitter days and says that earlier she used to live in a hut with her family. During heavy rains, water used to drip from the roof of the hut at many places. We used to protect household items by covering them with polythene sheets. There was also a fear of the hut collapsing when there was heavy rain. Many times snakes and scorpions would fall from the roof and scare everyone. Then she used to think that she too wished she had a concrete house. When she got the information, she applied for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. On being eligible, she got a concrete house. The concrete house has relieved her from all the problems of cold-heat, rain, hailstorms.
