Honest thief: Heart melted after seeing the picture of the writer, returned all the goods with apology

Maharashtra news: A thief in Mumbai regretted it when he realised that he had stolen valuables from the house of a famous Marathi writer. Repenting, the thief returned the stolen items and also apologised to the family. Police said that the thief had stolen valuables including an LED TV from Narayan Surve’s house in Neral of Raigad district.

Let us tell you, Mumbai-born Narayan Surve was a famous Marathi poet and social worker. Surve, who clearly depicted the struggles of the urban working class in his poems, died on 16 August 2010 at the age of 84.

The house was closed for 10 days

Narayan Surve’s daughter Sujata and her husband Ganesh Ghare now live in this house. He had gone to Virar to visit his son and his house was closed for 10 days. During this time, a thief broke into the house and stole some items including an LED TV. The next day when he came to steal some more items, he saw Surve’s photo and the honours he received in one of the rooms.

The thief was very remorseful after knowing about Narayan Surve. As a sign of remorse, he returned the stolen items. Not only this, he pasted a small note on the wall, in which he apologized to the owner for stealing from the house of the great litterateur. Neral Police Station Inspector Shivaji Dhavale said that Sujata and her husband found this note when they returned from Virar on Sunday. He said that the police is investigating further on the basis of fingerprints found on the TV and other items.

Narayan Surve, who lost his parents in childhood, grew up on the streets of Mumbai. He worked as a domestic help, hotel dishwasher, babysitter, pet dog groomer, milkman, porter and mill worker. Through his poems, Surve tried to tell the struggle of workers.
