The police has arrested the accused who killed two people by hitting four bike riders in Delhi’s cantonment area. Two people are badly injured in this accident, who are undergoing treatment in the hospital. The accused has been identified as Dheeraj Talwar. The vehicle has also been seized.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-West) Rohit Meena said that on July 22, a PCR call was received about this accident that took place near pillar number 163 on National Highway-8. In this, the caller told us that four people riding a motorcycle have met with an accident. Their condition is very bad.
The DCP said that as soon as the information was received, the police team reached the spot. All the injured were taken to AIIMS Trauma Center by ambulance. After reaching there, the doctor declared two injured Nasreen (35) and her son Azim (13) dead. Nasreen’s husband Mehboob (37) and daughter Ayesha (6) are undergoing treatment.
Delhi Police registered an FIR in this case and started investigation. Police checked the footage of more than 50 CCTV cameras installed in an area of about 10 kilometers, after which the vehicle which caused the accident was identified. After this, the accused Dheeraj Talwar was arrested.
Let us tell you that these days the number of hit and run cases has increased rapidly across the country. However, the traffic police claims that road accidents in Delhi have decreased. In the year 2023, there were 5834 road accidents in Delhi, out of which 1751 were hit and run cases. The police rescued 1275 injured people with the help of the people.
666 people died in these road accidents. At the same time, there were 5662 road accidents in the year 2022, out of which 1772 cases were of hit and run. In these, 1321 people were injured, while 673 people died. In the year 2021, there were 4720 road accidents, out of which 1590 were cases of hit and run.
