Himachal Pradesh Rain: Cloud burst in Himachal, 58 roads closed… IMD issued heavy rain alert till August 20

The havoc of rain in Himachal Pradesh is not stopping. The Meteorological Department has issued a ‘yellow’ alert for heavy rain in 10 out of 12 districts of the state till August 20. 58 roads have been closed in some parts due to rain. Let us tell you that on late Friday night, a 30 meter long road was damaged due to cloudburst in Taklech area of ​​Rampur subdivision of Shimla district.

However, there is no news of any casualties. Officials say that National Highway 5 has been closed after the road collapsed near Negulsari sliding point, due to which Kinnaur district is cut off from Shimla. The Meteorological Department says that the spell of rain in the state is likely to continue till August 22.

The IMD has also issued a flood warning in parts of Chamba, Kangra, Shimla and Sirmaur districts today. Along with this, it has also warned about the possibility of damage to crops, weak structures and kutcha houses. The State Emergency Operations Center said that the 58 roads closed due to rain on Friday also include National Highway 707 between Hatkoti in Shimla district and Ponta Sahib in Sirmaur district.

19 roads are closed in Shimla, 14 in Mandi, 12 in Kangra, eight in Kullu, three in Kinnaur and one each in Sirmaur and Lahaul and Spiti districts. The rain has also disrupted 31 electricity and four water supply schemes. According to official data, 120 people died in rain-related incidents between June 27 and Friday and the state suffered a loss of about Rs 1,129 crore. At the same time, Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti district was the coldest place in Himachal Pradesh, where the night temperature was 10.7 degrees Celsius, while Una was the hottest place, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 36.4 degrees.
