Himachal Cloudburst: So far 13 people have died due to cloudburst in Himachal Pradesh, search dogs and drones are searching for 40 missing people

Himachal heavy rain Updated information and death toll: At least 13 people have been confirmed dead in flash floods triggered by cloudburst in three districts of Himachal Pradesh. More than 40 people are missing after cloudburst incidents hit Nirmand, Sainj and Malana in Kullu, Padhar in Mandi and Rampur subdivision in Shimla on the night of July 31. The death toll was revised after four bodies, including a three-month-old baby, were recovered from Mandi and Shimla districts on Sunday.

According to officials, 410 rescue personnel from teams of Army, NDRF, SDRF, ITBP, CISF, Himachal Pradesh Police and Home Guards are engaged to rescue 40 people reported missing in the hill state.

Officials said rescue workers have intensified the search operation by deploying more machinery, sniffer dog squads, drones and other equipment. The rescue operation is still underway but locals have claimed that three villages – Samej, Dhara Sarda and Kushwa located on the border of Shimla and Kullu – have been without electricity since the tragedy.

These three villages have been the worst affected by the recent floods. More than 30 people are missing in Samej village of Gram Panchayat Sarpara in Rampur subdivision.

Immediate relief of Rs 50,000 announced for the victims

The state government has announced an immediate relief of Rs 50,000 for the victims and said they will be given Rs 5,000 monthly for rent for the next three months, along with gas, food and other essential items.

The hill state has suffered losses worth Rs 662 crore since the onset of monsoon on June 27 till August 4. According to the State Emergency Operations Centre, 85 people have lost their lives in rain-related incidents.
