hemant soren news: The Hemant Soren-led Jharkhand government is to face a floor test in the assembly today i.e. on Monday. A day before this, on Sunday, both the ruling coalition and the opposition held separate meetings to prepare a strategy for the special assembly session. While JMM, Congress and RJD MLAs expressed confidence in winning the trust vote, the opposition BJP said that it will not be easy for the ruling coalition.
Meanwhile, there is speculation about the expansion of the Jharkhand cabinet. An MLA said that the expansion of the Soren cabinet is certain after the floor test. MLA from Poriyahat Pradeep Yadav told reporters on Sunday, “The floor test and cabinet expansion were discussed during the meeting. The cabinet will be expanded after the trust vote.”
Soren government has sufficient numbers
Pradeep Yadav, who joined the Congress after winning the 2019 assembly elections on a JVM-P ticket, claimed that they have enough numbers in the House to win the trust vote. JMM MLA Stephen Marandi said the party has directed all the alliance MLAs to be present in the House and participate in the floor test. On the other hand, the BJP said it will not be easy for the ruling coalition to win the trust vote.
Is there internal strife in the alliance?
Speaking to reporters after the party’s legislative party meeting, Leader of Opposition Amar Bauri claimed there was infighting in the ruling coalition. “The party has decided to participate in the floor test on Monday. We request the government to ensure discussion and allow the opposition to speak,” he said. Bauri said the BJP wants the chief minister to explain in the House what was the need to form a new government when former chief minister Champai Soren was already working.
