Heavy rains wreak havoc in Maharashtra, Gujarat and MP, many cities submerged, schools and colleges closed

People are suffering due to heavy rains in many states of the country. Terrifying pictures are coming from Gujarat, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. Many cities of all three states have been submerged. On Thursday, so much rain fell in Pune city of Maharashtra that many residential areas were submerged. The same situation was seen in many areas of MP and Gujarat. Roads have become rivers. In view of the rain alert in Pune, orders have been given to close all schools and colleges tomorrow. The situation is so bad that the army has to take over the responsibility of rescue operations.

Why is Pune in such a bad state

Actually, after heavy rains in Pune, when the water in Khadakvasla dam increased, 40 thousand cusecs of water was released from there. People allege that the administration did not alert about this in advance and water reached residential areas at midnight. Societies in the lower areas of the city were submerged. Many pictures of floating vehicles are going viral on social media. The situation has become so uncontrollable that water and electricity supply has been stopped in many areas of Pune since night. The administration has asked people to stay in their homes.

Ajit Pawar held a meeting

In view of the deteriorating situation after the rain in Pune, Deputy CM and Minister in-charge Ajit Pawar are holding continuous meetings. The district administration has declared a holiday in schools in view of the flood situation. Torrential rains have worsened the situation not only in Pune city but also in Pimpri-Chinchwad, Maval and Lonavala areas of the district.

960 years old Shiv temple filled with water

Rainwater has filled the 960-year-old Shiva temple in Ambarnath, Maharashtra. Due to this, the idol and Shivling present in the temple have drowned. Actually, the Waldhuni river flows near the Shiva temple. Due to heavy rains, its water flow has also increased. It has been raining heavily in Ambarnath taluka for the last two days and due to this the rivers and drains are in spate. If the rain continues, there is a possibility of flooding in the city.

Army deployed for rescue in Pune

Several contingents of the Indian Army have been deployed to evacuate the affected people in Pune and take them to safer places. So far, about 400 people have been evacuated. Officials said that two contingents of the Army have been deployed in the Sinhagad Road area, which is badly affected by the floods. Apart from this, teams of NDRF, fire brigade as well as district and city disaster management cells have also been deployed to carry out relief operations. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has said that if needed, people affected by the rains will be airlifted to Pune.

The situation is even worse in Mumbai

Like Pune, roads in Mumbai have also turned into seas due to rain. Heavy rain warning has been issued in Mumbai tonight. Due to rain, three express trains running between Mumbai and Pune have been cancelled. Andheri has received the maximum rainfall of 157 mm. After this, BMC has closed all schools and colleges today. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for Palghar, Thane and Mumbai.

The effect is visible in Gujarat

People in Gujarat, adjacent to Maharashtra, are in a bad condition due to heavy rains. Kutch and Saurashtra are receiving the most rainfall. So far, more than 4 thousand people have been taken to safer places from 7 districts of the state. So far, 63 people have lost their lives due to floods and rains in Gujarat. The situation is also bad due to rains in Banaskantha, Gujarat. Many areas of Madhya Pradesh are also under water. Due to torrential rains in Katni district, flood-like conditions have arisen in Dhimarkheda and Bahoriband tehsils. Many villages have turned into islands. People are camping on the roofs of their houses. SDRF team has been deployed for rescue.
