The three-storey building of the Mandi was constructed last year at a cost of Rs 5 crore. This building had 12 shops, 8 rooms and two offices. After the cloudburst, due to the sudden strong current in the Parvati river, the road and the building leading to the Sabzi Mandi were completely washed away in the river. Actually, due to the cloudburst, the river changed its course and the building came under its grip. The remains of the building are still lying inside the river.

33 people are also trapped in Malana II power project

33 people were also trapped in the Malana II power project in Manikaran area of ​​Shimla district. Kullu Deputy Commissioner Torul S. Ravish said that 29 out of 33 people have been rescued. Due to rain, the wall and path of a tunnel got damaged and water entered the barrage. But the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Home Guard teams were successful in rescuing 29 people, while four people are still in the power house. Officials said that the Army, NDRF, Indo-Tibetan Border Police, State Disaster Response Force, Police and Home Guard are carrying out rescue operations at the site. The help of drones is also being taken to search for the missing people. The relatives of the victims are also waiting for the well-being of their loved ones.

Cloudburst causes massive destruction, 45 people missing, 73 deaths so far

Rescue operations were underway on Friday to find over 45 missing people after a cloudburst triggered flash floods in three districts of Himachal Pradesh. Giving this information, officials also said that 29 people stranded at a power project site in the state were rescued safely after an overnight operation. Five people were killed and over 45 went missing in flash floods following a cloudburst in Nirmand, Sainj and Malana areas of Kullu district, Padhar in Mandi and Rampur in Shimla district on Wednesday.

The most damage has been done in Samej area of ​​Rampur subdivision of Shimla district. Here on Wednesday night, a cloudburst near Shrikhand Mahadev caused sudden floods in Sarpara, Ganvi and Kurban drains. Shimla Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi said that due to the sudden flood, the water level in Samej Khud (drain) in Rampur of Shimla district increased, killing two people and about 30 people went missing. Gandhi said, we have to search in an area of ​​​​about 100 km, some of which are inaccessible and drones are being used to locate the missing people. Nali Ram, a senior citizen who escaped with his family from the flash flood, said, I heard the sound of fast flowing water and came out of my house and found that the surrounding area was submerged in flood.

So far 73 people have died, loss of Rs 649 crore

The overflowing of Samej Khud caused havoc in Shimla and Kullu districts. Another local resident Neel Dutt said, “My father-in-law was working on a project. There is no information about him since last night. I have come here with my family to search for him.” According to reports, more than 20 houses, six shops, four main bridges and two foot bridges were washed away in the floodwaters after the cloudburst in the state. Road connectivity has been disrupted in the affected areas. According to the state emergency operation centre, 73 people have died in rain-related incidents since the onset of monsoon on June 27 and the state has also suffered a loss of Rs 649 crore.
