These days, it has been raining intermittently for the last three-four days in the areas including Chandauli in eastern Uttar Pradesh, but the heavy rain in Chandauli district last night became a problem for the common people as well as school children. Waterlogging occurred in residential areas. On the other hand, school premises also became ponds. In such a situation, not only the common people are facing problems but this rain is also creating a lot of problems for the students and teachers going to school.
This district of UP got submerged due to rain
These pictures are of Chandasi Composite School located in Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Nagar in Chandauli, eastern Uttar Pradesh. You can see in these pictures how the entire school campus is filled with water and the school students are forced to go to their classrooms through this water. Actually, Chandauli and the surrounding areas received heavy rain last night, due to which flood-like conditions were seen even in the schools adjoining the city.
Due to heavy rains, on one hand the entire school campus was flooded with water, on the other hand, knee-deep water accumulated in many colonies of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Nagar. When morning came, people saw that whether it is the main colony of the city, Gurudwara Colony or Krishna Nagar Colony, flood-like conditions have arisen everywhere. In the low-lying areas, water accumulated up to several feet. On the other hand, drains were also seen clogged, due to which water could not drain out.
Due to the overnight rain, the situation became such that on one hand, waterlogging occurred in different colonies of the city. On the other hand, the city roads and school premises also turned into ponds. School teachers and students say that due to waterlogging, there is a lot of difficulty in studying. Also, due to waterlogging, the possibility of insects and other creatures coming has also increased.
Local people told their ordeal
Kiran Jaiswal, assistant of Composite School Chandasi, said, “There is a lot of trouble due to rain. You can see that our entire school is submerged in water like a swimming pool. We are very scared because there are various types of germs in water which are not helpful for us. Children are also facing a lot of trouble. The bathrooms here are also filled with water, due to which children are facing difficulty in going. How will we study, how will the food of the children be cooked, there is no light here, due to which we are facing a lot of problems. When we were coming to school, there was a lot of water on the way and I had to come to school by auto. When I reached school, I saw that there was even more water here. There is knee-deep water in the entire campus. Our clothes have also got wet and got spoiled.”
A student named Anu Chauhan said, “When we were coming to school, the road was filled with water. We were scared to get into the water. We were also afraid that we might get infected and fall ill.”
Another teacher Raman Kumar Pathak said, “It rained a lot here last night and due to the rain we had a lot of problems on the way. There is a problem of waterlogging in many places. Somehow we reached the school in the morning and after reaching the gate, we saw that the entire school campus was submerged. We stood at the gate for a long time thinking how to go inside. Then somehow we took off our shoes and rolled up our pants and came to the classroom. The water is very dirty and we are also afraid that snakes and animals may come somewhere. We have forbidden the children not to get into the water. There is no light here, due to which there is a problem of drinking water. Raman Pathak further said that we have come through the city and we have found water filled at many places in the city. The situation of waterlogging was in the entire city. But I did not have any idea that we would see such waterlogging on coming to school, due to which we are facing a lot of problems and the children are also facing a lot of problems.”
