According to the agenda of July 12 uploaded on the Supreme Court website, the petition will come up for hearing before a bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Mishra. The petition filed by advocate Vishal Tiwari also demands the Uttar Pradesh government to file a status report on the incident and initiate legal action against negligent officials. It has requested the Supreme Court to direct the states to issue guidelines to prevent stampedes or other incidents for the safety of the public at any religious or other event.

The accident happened on July 2 during Bhole Baba’s satsang

Let us tell you that the satsang of Saakar Vishvhari Baba alias Bhole Baba started on 2 July in Fullerai Mughalgarhi village of Hathras. Despite permission for 80 thousand people in the satsang, more than 2.50 lakh people came. With the announcement of the end of Baba’s satsang, Baba’s private army took complete control of all the arrangements of the event venue. But neither Baba’s private army nor policemen were enough to handle the crowd. According to the local people, when Baba’s convoy came out, the crowd was stopped. During this, the followers became uncontrolled in the pursuit of taking the dust of his feet. After CM Yogi Adityanath took charge of the incident, the UP police started taking rapid action. The police arrested six accused, which include four men and two women associated with the satsang organizing committee.
