Hathras stampede case In the Supreme Court: Amidst the UP SIT and judicial investigation, the Hathras stampede case has now reached the Supreme Court as well. The Supreme Court said on Tuesday that a PIL requesting an investigation into the Hathras stampede case has been listed for hearing. 121 people have died in this accident. Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud said that I have ordered the listing of the petition just yesterday. Let us tell you that petitioner and lawyer Vishal Tiwari had requested an immediate hearing on this petition.

Demand for investigation from retired Supreme Court judge

The PIL has sought the appointment of a five-member expert committee under the supervision of a retired Supreme Court judge to probe the stampede case. It has also sought a direction to the Uttar Pradesh government to submit a status report on the incident that took place on July 2 and initiate legal action against authorities, officials and others for their negligence.

121 people died in a stampede during a religious gathering in Hathras on July 2. More than 2.5 lakh people had gathered for the ‘satsang’ of Baba Narayan Hari alias Sakar Vishvahari Bhole Baba in Phulrai village of Hathras. But during this time a stampede occurred in which 121 people died a painful death. Most of them were women.

SIT submitted report

The SIT, which investigated the stampede that took place at Sakar Vishwa Hari’s satsang on July 2 in Hathras, has submitted its 300-page report to the government. In this report, questions have been raised on the committee that organized the satsang. Questions have also been raised on the officers of Hathras district. If sources are to be believed, there is no mention of Surajpal alias Sakar Vishwa Hari alias Bhole Baba in this report. The SIT has recorded the statements of 119 people in its 300-page report. These include statements of Hathras DM Ashish Kumar, SP Nipun Agarwal, SDM and CO Sikandrarao who gave permission for the satsang and policemen deployed on duty for the satsang on July 2.

Statements of the relatives of the deceased and the injured were also recorded

Apart from this, statements of the family members of the deceased and injured devotees have also been recorded. If sources are to be believed, the report has blamed the committee organising the satsang for inviting more people than permitted and making inadequate arrangements, besides the lack of inspection of the spot by the officers. The SIT included ADG Agra Zone Anupam Kulshreshtha and Aligarh Commissioner Chaitra V.
