Had to go just 1.8 KM, Uber asked for 699 rupees fare! Employee’s ordeal post goes viral

The rainy season has just begun in every city. The most common thing after rain is waterlogging on the roads and traffic jams. When such a situation arises in the city, the fare of cab services increases and the delivery companies also increase their charges. But, a post is going viral on social media, in which it is being claimed that the cab provider company Uber has asked for Rs 699 for a distance of 1.8 km. A user has told his ordeal that how he was asked for Rs 699 for a ride of just 1.8 km.

After the post went viral on social media, users are now giving their reactions. Many people are telling their story, while many are opposing the surcharge being charged by the companies. In such a situation, let us understand what the claim is and what the users are saying about it…

What was the post?

Actually, product management professional Surya Pandey has posted a post on LinkedIn on social media, after which it is being discussed a lot. In his post, he has told that he had booked a cab for a distance of 1.8 km and Uber was demanding Rs 699 for it. He has also compared this incident with the boom in the stock market in 1990.

He wrote- ‘If I had the foresight to invest in Uber’s surge pricing instead of the stock market, I would have surpassed Harshad Mehta by now! Isn’t it ironic that when you use a product to solve a problem and then it itself becomes a problem? Take for example Uber, Rapido, Ola etc.’

He further wrote, ‘They started it to make cab service easier. Now after light rain in Gurugram, Uber is demanding 300 percent more fare. It is better to go to the parking exit and ask someone to drop you home. The distance was 1.8 km and how is it being decided that the fare for WagonR is more than a 7 seater car?’ After this, people are expressing their frustration.

Uber Fare

Earlier also many such incidents have come to light, when Uber or any other cab provider company has shown a hefty fare for a very short distance. After this, a user shared his experience that you have given the right suggestion and I used to adopt a trick during my internship and used to take lift from bikers. Also, a user told that sometimes the rates of auto are much higher than cabs.
