Gujarat: He became an officer in the fire department by obtaining a degree through fraudulent means, was fired from his job after a 2 year long investigation

Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has terminated 9 fire department officers and employees from their jobs. A decision has been taken to sack 9 fire department officers and employees at once after they were found guilty of obtaining degrees through fake sponsorship from National Fire Service College, Nagpur.

A complaint was received against nine officers and employees of the Ahmedabad Fire Department for taking admission in the Fire Service College of Nagpur through fake sponsorship and obtaining degree certificates. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation had handed over the investigation of this case to the Vigilance two years ago.

Vigilance report revealed

In the letter issued in the case of all the 9 fire officers and employees fired by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, it is said that all the 9 fire officers and employees who were fired were on probation for a long time. All of them had obtained degrees from the National Fire Service College of Nagpur through fake sponsorship. These include three divisional fire officers Kaijan Dastur, Inayat Hussain Sheikh, Om Jadeja along with Asif Sheikh, Anirudh Singh Gadhvi, Mehul Gadhvi, Abhijeet Gadhvi, Sudhir Gadhvi, Shubham Khadiya. Vigilance inquiry was ordered against all of them, after the report of which, notices were sent to all.

AMC commissioner had asked for a reply within a week

After two years, when the report of the vigilance investigation came, the Ahmedabad Municipal Commissioner gave one week’s time to all the nine officers and employees who were fired to explain why they should not be fired. After one week, when no logical explanation was received from any fire officer or employee, all of them were terminated.

Demand to check degrees of all officers

Shahzad Khan Pathan, the opposition leader in Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, has said in the case of all the 9 fire officers and employees who were sacked that the degrees of all the fire officers should be investigated. He has also demanded the recovery of the government financial benefits including the salary received by all the 9 officers and employees who were sacked.
