The court has sentenced a 71-year-old man to life imprisonment in the case of raping his five-year-old granddaughter in Kota, Rajasthan. This information was given by the government lawyer.
He said that Judge Sonia Beniwal convicted Hiralal for the crime that took place at the house in October 2022. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on the accused.
Government lawyer Harinarayan Singh said that the minor’s mother and aunt caught Hiralal raping the girl in his room. After this, the victim’s mother lodged a complaint in Harnavada Shahji police station.
According to the news agency report, on the complaint of the victim’s father, the police had registered a case against Hiralal under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code and sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. After initial investigation, he was arrested by the police.
He was in jail since then under judicial custody, the lawyer said. The judge held Hiralal guilty of raping the girl and sentenced him to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on him.
The lawyer said, during the trial, statements of 18 witnesses were recorded and 24 evidences were presented before the court on the basis of which the court gave this verdict.
