Student protests in Bangladesh, The Indian government has come into action amidst the violent protests against the recruitment of constables in government jobs in Bangladesh. The return of Indian students stranded in Bangladesh has begun. According to official sources, a total of 245 Indian citizens have returned in the first batch. These included 125 Indian students and 13 Nepali students. The government has said that the Indian High Commission in Dhaka and the Indian Assistant High Commission in Bangladesh are available for any assistance to Indian citizens.

It has also been said on behalf of the government that the Indian High Commission is facilitating the return of Indian students from Bangladesh to India in coordination with the BSF and the Bureau of Immigration. Along with this, the Indian High Commission is coordinating with the local authorities in Bangladesh to provide adequate security to the students wishing to come to India.

15000 Indians in Bangladesh

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, currently about 15,000 Indians, including 8,000 students, are living in Bangladesh. The Ministry of External Affairs has said that Indian citizens are safe. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that we have issued an advisory to Indian citizens and our students living in Bangladesh for their safety and assistance if needed. Helpline numbers to contact us are active round the clock. Jaiswal said that Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar himself is keeping a close watch on this matter.

The demonstration turned quite violent

The ongoing protests in Bangladesh demanding reforms in the reservation system in government jobs are turning violent. On Friday, police and security officials opened fire and fired tear gas shells at the protesters, and also banned the gathering of people in the capital Dhaka. Along with this, internet and mobile services have been shut down amid violent protests. Let us tell you, more than 64 people have died and many are injured in the violent protests in Bangladesh.
