Google got a setback, the court admitted that it did illegal work to establish its dominance

Google has received a big blow. The US court has admitted that Google has used illegal methods to create its monopoly in online search. US District Court Judge Amit P Mehta has given this verdict. This verdict can prove to be a milestone for the technology world.

Actually, in the technology sector we see many such companies whose supremacy cannot be challenged by anyone. Google is one such company which dominates the search engine market. There are other search engines in the world, but no one has yet been able to match Google.

What does the court say?

In his 286-page judgment, Judge Mehta has said that Google has taken unfair advantage of its monopoly in the search business. The judge has said that Google has blocked competition from entering the market in its distribution agreement.

Apart from this, Google has paid 26 billion dollars to make its search engine the default search engine on smartphones and web browsers. Due to this, other competition could not get a foothold in the market. In America, the Justice Department and the states had filed a case against Google regarding this.

Billions of dollars given to smartphone companies

Google was accused of paying billions of dollars to companies like Samsung and Apple to maintain its dominance. Judge Mehta has said that because of Google’s monopoly on phones and browsers, the company has increased the price of online advertising without thinking about the consequences.

US Attorney General Merrick Garland has called this decision a historic victory for the American people. He has said that no company is above the law. Federal antitrust regulators have also filed suit against other big tech companies, including Meta Platform, Amazon and Apple.

Now what will the company do next?

Google plans to appeal the decision. The company says its success is due to providing a better product that consumers like. Google’s lawyers say the company faces a lot of challenges from other platforms and its market share is due to creating valuable services for users.
