Good news! Noida International Airport will start soon, first flight will start in April 2025

The Noida International Airport, touted to be Asia’s largest, is set to welcome its first flight in April 2025. Located in Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddh Nagar district, the ambitious project will have six runways, double the number currently available at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, and will have the capacity to handle millions of passengers annually.

Asia’s largest airport will start operating soon

Noida International Airport, also known as Jewar Airport, is rapidly taking shape and one of its runways is already about to be completed. In 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of Noida International Airport in Jewar. This 3.9 km long and 60 meter wide runway is currently in the final stages of development. According to project head Dinesh Jamwal, the runway work has been completed, but the lighting work is yet to be done. Jamwal said, “Marking work for lighting is going on and it is expected that this work will be completed in the next two months.” The runway has been designed in such a way that the drainage system is better. Therefore, there will be no problem of waterlogging even during heavy rains.

Let us tell you that the terminal structure of Noida International Airport is also taking shape, the design of which reflects the cultural heritage of Uttar Pradesh. The entry point of the terminal is inspired by the iconic ghats of Varanasi, which offers a unique cultural experience to the passengers. This terminal with 10 gates is almost ready and the apron area – from where passengers will board their flights – is also ready. Several boarding bridges have already been delivered to the site. Apart from this, the Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower is also almost ready.

Located in Gautam Buddh Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh, the airport is being developed to decongest Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport and meet the growing air traffic demand in the National Capital Region (NCR). Test flights are scheduled in September, followed by validation flights in December. The aim of the testing flights is to find out if the airport meets all operational standards. Given its proximity to Delhi airport, special attention has been paid to ensuring separate flight paths for both airports to minimise any potential collisions.

Noida Airport

Spread over an area of 1,334 acres, Noida International Airport is being developed by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG, Switzerland. When completed, it will not only serve as a major aviation hub in India but will also boost regional connectivity, economic development and tourism.
