Gonda: Brother-in-law used to molest her, two sisters got upset and committed suicide by jumping into the river

In Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh, two sisters committed suicide after being fed up with the harassment of their brother-in-law. The police informed a news agency about this. According to which, the two sisters allegedly committed suicide by jumping into the river on Monday. The father of the girls has accused his son-in-law of harassing his younger daughters.

Father Suresh Kumar claimed that his 19-year-old daughter Sunita and 17-year-old daughter Punita were being molested by Ashok Kumar, husband of his elder daughter Anita. After which on Monday morning both the daughters left their house saying that they are leaving and will never return.

Giving information about the incident, police station in-charge Santosh Kumar Mishra said that both the sisters jumped into the Bisuhi river and later their bodies were recovered from the river with the help of villagers. Kumar said that he did not take the girls seriously at that time because he thought they were going out to defecate. However, when the girls did not return even after some time, the villagers started searching for them.

During this time, they reached near the river because some villagers had seen both of them going towards the river. The villagers had also informed the police about this. The police said that the sisters had tied each other with clothes.

Police said that Sunita had passed 12th class this year while Punita was a student of 10th class. Police said that a case has been registered against the brother-in-law on the complaint of the father. The matter is being investigated.
