Police have arrested a 21-year-old man for raping a minor girl in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. A case has been registered against about 250 other people for vandalism and arson following the crime. The accused has been identified as Faizan.
According to the information, on Wednesday, during a power outage in an area under Ghaziabad’s Link Road Police Station, the accused entered the house of a 14-year-old girl from the back door and raped her. After this incident, the local people protested violently for two days.
DCP Trans Hindon Nimish Patil said, “The accused Faizan has been arrested on charges of rape. He entered the minor’s house from behind. After this, he made the girl unconscious using anesthesia. Then he made her a victim of his lust. People got angry after this incident.
People staged violent protests. After this, the police on Thursday registered a case against about 250 people for vandalising shops and burning e-rickshaws in Brij Vihar Colony. A case has been registered against them under sections 191(2), 191(3) and 121 of the Indian Penal Code.
According to the police, the medical examination has confirmed that the girl has been raped. The police said that with the aim of inciting communal tension, some miscreants spread the rumour that the girl has been gang-raped. After this, the people of the area became very furious.
According to the complaint filed by the victim’s family, around 6 pm on Wednesday evening, when the power went out, 3-4 people entered the house from the back door. After this, those people brutally raped the girl. DCP Patil said, the accused has been sent to jail under BNS and POCSO Act.
