Former student leader of Sheikh Hasina’s party died while trying to escape Bangladesh

Since the coup of the Sheikh Hasina government in Bangladesh and the formation of the interim government, the troubles of the leaders of her party Awami League are not decreasing. Now on Sunday, a media report said that a leader of the student wing of the ousted Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina’s party died of a heart attack while trying to flee to India.

The Dhaka Tribune newspaper reported that former Chhatra League general secretary Ishak Ali Khan Panna died on Saturday morning. According to the report, Panna’s nephew Laikuzzaman Talukdar Mintu, Chirpara Par Satoria Union Parishad and organizing secretary of Kaukhali Upazila Awami League, said that his uncle slipped from a hill in Shillong, Meghalaya, causing a heart attack.

Talked to Pahle Panna on phone 3 days ago

Another relative, Jasim Uddin Khan, said he had spoken to Panna over the phone three days ago. Khan said he learned that Panna had entered India through the Tamabil border in Sylhet, where he died.

The newspaper quoted sources as saying that Panna was accompanied by an Awami League central committee leader and a leader of the Jhalakthi Chhatra League during his escape attempt.

The paper said Panna was elected general secretary of the Chhatra League in its 1994 central council and became a member of the Awami League central sub-committee after the 2012 council.

Let us tell you that the law and order situation across the country collapsed after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned on August 5 over the controversial quota system in jobs. Many police stations were attacked and set on fire, due to which the officers stopped working fearing for their safety. Meanwhile, amid violence and turmoil, Sheikh Hasina left Bangladesh and went to India. Sheikh Hasina’s status still remains uncertain as she is seeking asylum in Britain or any other European country, but no country has approved her yet.
