Foreign Minister Jaishankar once again spoke to Germany about trade with China, what did he say?

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has once again commented on trade with China from Berlin, the capital of Germany. On Tuesday, he said that India has not closed its doors for trade with China, but the issue is in which areas it trades with China and on what terms. This statement of the External Affairs Minister has come at a time when China’s state-run newspaper Global Times has been irritated by his earlier statement on trade with China.

Earlier, S Jaishankar had said in a program organized in New Delhi on August 31 that the whole world has a common problem with China. He had said, ‘Not only India but the whole world is debating on various issues regarding China. In Europe too, China is at the center of major economic and national security debates.’

The foreign minister had further said that many countries investigate Chinese investments in their country for security reasons and India should do the same. He further said, ‘China is a unique problem in many ways such as its politics and economy are unique. As long as we try to understand its uniqueness, our policies and decisions may go wrong.’

China’s government newspaper was enraged by the foreign minister’s remarks

These comments of the Foreign Minister infuriated China’s state-run newspaper Global Times and it published several articles targeting him personally. On Monday too, the Chinese newspaper published an article and criticized S Jaishankar. The Chinese newspaper wrote that S Jaishankar’s comments reflected his jealousy and hatred towards China.

Global Times wrote that as India’s Foreign Minister, Jaishankar’s policies are not in line with national policy. The Foreign Minister is afraid of the improvement in relations between China and India. Crossing the limits, the Global Times article even wrote that S Jaishankar neither has the ethics of Jawaharlal Nehru’s diplomacy nor the morality of Indira Gandhi’s diplomacy.

However, seeing the controversy over the article growing, Global Times removed the article from its English website.
