Flood like situation in Rajkot-Surat of Gujarat, houses and vehicles all submerged, now IMD has issued red alert

Rain alert in Gujarat: Heavy rains have created havoc in Gujarat. Flood-like conditions have arisen in about a dozen districts including Surat and Kutch. The rivers in the state are overflowing due to the torrential rains that have been going on for the last 48 hours. Due to this, low-lying areas of many districts have been flooded. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility of no relief from rain yet. The Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy rain for three days.

Due to heavy rains, there is so much water on the city roads in Rajkot that vehicles have completely submerged. Houses are so flooded that elderly people are being rescued by carrying them on shoulders. The flow of water on the road is so fast that a bike rider lost his balance. He somehow managed to save himself but the bike was swept away in the water.

Rivers in spate, dams also overflow
Ramnath Mahadev temple of Rajkot is also in the grip of flood now. Rain drains are flowing at full speed from the nearby streets. More than twenty inches of rain has been recorded in Rajkot in two days. Three big dams in Panchmahal have overflowed due to heavy rains. Lakhs of cusecs of water has been released from them so far.

Due to rain and water being released from the dam, the surrounding areas have been flooded. The water level of the Shedhi river in Kheda, Gujarat has risen so much that the nearby villages have been submerged. 15 people were stranded in a cowshed near the river for about 12 hours, who were rescued by the SDRF team and taken to a safe place.

A car got stuck in the strong current of the drain near Tollnaka in Jamnagar. Four members of a family were in the car who were seen climbing on top of the car and asking for help. The car flowing in the strong current of water got stuck between the trees, which saved the lives of these people. At the same time, the police post in Jamnagar was also seen floating in the strong current of water as if it was a boat.

Narmada river in spate
Due to rain in Gujarat, power supply to more than 700 villages has been completely disrupted. A total of 523 roads are closed in Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi Dang and Chhotaudepur districts. Due to heavy rains, the Narmada river is in spate due to the continuous release of water from the Narmada dam. The water is flowing close to the danger mark.

The roads on which vehicles used to speed in Vadodara are now filled with several feet of water. Heavy rain in Vadodara for the last 48 hours has also put a brake on the speed of the city. People are now hoping for relief from the wrath of floods. However, according to the Meteorological Department, heavy rain is expected in Saurashtra on August 29 as well. There is a red alert in all the districts except the districts of North Gujarat.

Meteorological department issued red alert
The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for heavy rain in all the districts of Kutch and Saurashtra. There is a warning of heavy rain in Ahmedabad, Kheda, Anand, Dahod, Mahisagar, Vadodara, Panchmahal, Chhotaudepur, Bharuch and Narmada. While the Meteorological Department has also issued a red alert in Surat, Tapi, Navsari, Dang, Valsad, Daman and Dadra Nagar Haveli. The red alert of the Meteorological Department is telling that the danger of heavenly calamity is not over yet. If the rain continues, then the condition of the local people is expected to become even more miserable in the next two days.
