Karnataka government does a U-turn after protests
First of all, let us tell you that when the Karnataka government proposed a bill related to making IT professionals work 14 hours every day, the debate on this has intensified. Due to these protests, the government has taken a U-turn on this bill. However, Minister Lad in Karnataka said that the government is still examining the bill, due to which software professionals will be forced to work 14 hours every day.
Finance Minister refused to comment
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has also given her opinion on the government’s bill to increase the working hours of IT employees in Karnataka. On the 14-hour working hours for IT employees, she has said that if the Siddaramaiah government of Karnataka is making such a statement, then I do not have to make any comment on this matter, because they have brought the state to such a situation. It is worth noting that after the debate broke out on this issue, Karnataka Labor Minister Santosh Lad had clarified that there is pressure from the IT industry to make a law to get more hours of work from those working in the tech sector.
