‘Fighting and wrestling will always remain inside me, emotional post of Vinesh Phogat

Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat has released an emotional post. She expressed her grief and struggle through her post. Vinesh’s weight had increased by 100 grams due to which she could not fight in the final for the gold. Phogat has mentioned many things in the post, mentioning her journey, her uncertain future and possible goals for 2032. Vinesh thanked and expressed gratitude to all those who played an important role in her journey to Paris Olympics 2024.

In her post, Vinesh recalled her early dreams, her father’s hopes and her mother’s struggles. She credited her husband Somveer for supporting her through all the ups and downs.

The female wrestler wrote in the last part of the post, ‘Maybe under different circumstances I will be able to see myself playing till 2032, because the fight and wrestling will always be in me. I cannot predict what the future holds for me and what will happen next in this journey, but I am sure that I will always keep fighting for what I believe in and what is right.’

On Wednesday, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) announced that the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) rejected Vinesh Phogat’s appeal. After this decision, her hopes of winning the silver medal also ended.

On the morning of August 7, just before her historic gold medal match against Sarah Ann Hildebrandt, she was found to be 100 grams overweight during a weigh-in. She was then disqualified. Vinesh Phogat became the first Indian female wrestler to reach an Olympic final. As per UWW rules, any wrestler who fails to measure weight at any stage of the competition is immediately disqualified, and all his previous wins are cancelled.
