The FBI has not yet identified a clear motive behind the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump by Thomas Matthew Crooks during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday.

According to reports, the 20-year-old Crooks, a resident of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, positioned himself on the roof of a manufacturing plant about 130 yards away from the stage where Trump was speaking and opened fire. Crooks’ bullet reportedly grazed Trump’s ear, resulting in minor injuries. Secret Service agents on the scene quickly shot and killed Crooks.

While Crooks has been tentatively identified as the shooter, the FBI stated it is not prepared to officially name him as the attacker and has not provided any identifying details about the suspect. Officials also said they have not yet determined a motive for the attempted assassination.

The shocking incident has left the nation stunned, with authorities working to piece together the events leading up to the attack and Crooks’ potential motivations. Investigations are ongoing, and the public is urged to remain vigilant as the FBI continues its probe into this attempted act of violence against a former U.S. president.
