Exclusive: Will President’s rule be imposed in West Bengal? Know what Governor CV Anand Bose said

The case of rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata is making headlines. New revelations are being made in this case every day. Amidst these developments, West Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose said on this entire matter that the state government has failed on every front and the Bengal Police has been criminalized.

In a conversation with Aaj Tak, Governor Anand Bose also answered the question of imposing President’s rule in the state. The Governor is currently in Delhi, where he had informed the President about the Kolkata incident.

Governor Anand Bose said that there is no democracy in Bengal. Mamata Banerjee’s government has not lived up to the expectations of the people. She has not fulfilled her responsibility at all. She should resign from the post. Also, the Police Commissioner should also be removed immediately.

Bengal government protects criminals

Governor CV Anand Bose said that whatever is happening in Bengal is sad. I am worried about the people of Bengal. This government is protecting the criminals. The government has failed to provide security to the people. The state government has completely failed in this matter. The situation in the state is worrying. Saving people’s lives is the priority. No one is safe in Bengal. The police should provide security to the people but it has failed to do so. The criminals have full protection of the police.

The Governor said that thousands of rioters had entered the hospital. But Bengal could not do anything. On the accusation of interfering in the work of the Bengal government, he said that I only do my work. After this incident came to light, I had asked the Chief Minister several times to take action. But the CM did not take any action.

He said that I am not anybody’s agent. I just do my work within the ambit of the Constitution. Doctors are not respected in the state. Who is safe in Bengal? I am worried about the people of Bengal. The public has come out on the streets against the CM. There is violence and corruption here.

30 reports were sought from CM, only 1 report was received

Governor Bose said that the Constitution has given me powers. I will continue to work in the interest of Bengal. The voice of the people has not been heard. This is not a fight between the Governor and the Chief Minister. I had repeatedly talked to the CM about the current situation in the state. Whatever report I asked for from the government, it was not given. So far I have asked for 30 reports but only one report has been given to me.

On the question of imposition of President’s rule in West Bengal, the Governor said that imposing President’s rule is a political matter. Questioning the role of police in this matter, he said that I am sure that the truth will definitely come out after the investigation. Every citizen has the right to live. I have spoken to the victim’s family two to three times. The family is hopeful of justice. I have told them that we are with you and you will definitely get justice. Bengal Police will have to learn discipline. An impartial investigation is being conducted into the Kolkata incident. Wait a little, the truth will definitely come out. In democracy, justice is definitely served, even if slowly.
