Excise department will take action against bar-restaurants if liquor is served after 1 am in Delhi

Now there are preparations to be strict about liquor in the national capital Delhi. The Excise Department has clearly said that if liquor is served in bars or restaurants after 1 am in Delhi, action will be taken. A circular has been issued in this regard.

According to the circular, during inspection, officials of the Excise Department found that many licensed bars and restaurants were found violating the set time limit of 1 am. The Excise Department has issued strict instructions and asked to serve liquor only within the set time limit. Punitive action has been warned in case of non-compliance.

These licensees were warned during the raid

The Excise Department has given this instruction especially to the licensees L-15/L15F, L-16/L16F, L17/17F, L-18/L18F, L19/19F, L-28/L28F and L29/29F. Because violation of the time of serving liquor has been found here.

Manpreet, a restaurant owner in Connaught Place and honorary treasurer of NRAI, said that the Delhi government’s excise department has given timing-based licenses. Liquor can be served in restaurants only till 1 am. Club timings are different. At some places, there are such licensees where serving liquor after 11.30 pm is prohibited. Only those who have taken such license and permission can serve liquor after 1 am.

There was a proposal to extend the time in the new excise policy

Under the new excise policy, there was a proposal to extend the 1 am time to 3 am. But later it was cancelled. Delhi Police had also opposed the extension of operating hours of hotels, clubs and restaurants due to law and order and security concerns. Usually liquor is served in closed rooms in hotels even after 1 am.
