‘Everyone is just paying tribute to the children but…’, SP MP Jaya Bachchan got emotional while speaking on the coaching incident

Samajwadi Party’s Rajya Sabha MP Jaya Bachchan during her speech in Rajya Sabha on Monday on Rajendra Nagar coaching incident said that all the people sitting here paid tribute to the deceased children but no one said anything about their families, some of them were farmers. Jaya Bachchan mentioned the Nirbhaya incident at the beginning of her speech. During this, she became emotional and her eyes became moist.

Jaya Bachchan said in Rajya Sabha, ‘After many years I am seeing such a discussion. When the Nirbhaya incident happened. I too cannot forget that agony. More than the agony, the humiliation that a woman had to face at that time. Today I stand here as a mother, a grandmother with a lot of pain. Today all of us, neither that nor this, only paid tribute to the children, did not say anything about their family, there were no farmers… what happened was extremely painful.’

She said, ‘We should not bring politics into this. We have lost three youths and many such youths have gone. I have been sitting here since then and watching, I am an artist, I understand body language, everyone is trying to fit their own puppets. This is wrong. We are Rajya Sabha members. We have been nominated to represent the people. We should speak with compassion and intelligence.’

Jaya Bachchan said, ‘There is CPWD, there is MCD, there is NDMC. What does this mean? When I came here to take oath, there was knee-deep water in my house. Everything in my house was ruined. The system of maintenance of MPs’ houses by these agencies is very poor and this is where the problem begins. This is not the fault of any government, this is the fault of all of us. Neither do we complain, no action is taken on it, who are their in-charges, what is their accountability, we did not think about all this.’
