Elon Musk Pledges $45 Million Monthly to Pro-Trump Super PAC

Elon Musk, the world’s wealthiest individual, has announced plans to contribute approximately $45 million per month to a newly formed super PAC supporting former President Donald Trump’s bid for the presidency in 2024.

The super PAC, named America PAC, was established in late May and has already attracted donations from other prominent figures, including Palantir Technologies co-founder Joe Lonsdale, who contributed $1 million, and the Winklevoss twins, who each donated $250,000.

Musk’s decision to financially back Trump’s campaign comes despite his previous statements in March indicating a reluctance to support any U.S. presidential candidate. However, Musk’s stance appears to have shifted after an incident where Trump narrowly escaped an assassination attempt during a campaign event. Musk publicly endorsed Trump’s recovery and presidency shortly after the incident.

The potential impact of Musk’s substantial financial commitment on the political landscape is significant, particularly given Trump’s current fundraising lead over President Joe Biden. Discussions have also surfaced regarding a potential advisory role for Musk in the White House should Trump win the election.

America PAC, which has a focus on mobilizing early and absentee voting among Trump supporters, has garnered attention for its discreet operations. The PAC’s upcoming donor disclosure on July 15 is expected to provide further insights into the extent of support it has received, including Musk’s contribution.

Musk’s evolving political inclinations, including his recent pro-right-wing stance on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), have been closely watched. The billionaire’s decision to financially back Trump’s campaign represents a notable shift in his political engagement and could have far-reaching implications for the 2024 presidential race.
