There will be no SIT investigation into the transactions between corporates and political parties in electoral bonds. The court said in clear words that we believe that SIT alone is not the solution.

The Supreme Court rejected the demand for SIT investigation

The Supreme Court has dismissed petitions seeking probe by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) into the alleged quid pro quo arrangement between corporates and political parties through electoral bond donations.

In February, the Supreme Court had struck down the electoral bond scheme, which allowed anonymous funding to political parties, and ordered SBI to immediately stop issuing electoral bonds.

The petition alleged that the electoral bond case involved a scam of crores of rupees, which could only be revealed through an independent investigation monitored by the Supreme Court. Seeking an SIT probe under the supervision of a retired Supreme Court judge, the petitioners had said that ‘the investigation in this case would not only need to unravel the entire conspiracy in each case, which would involve officials of the company, government officials and office bearers of political parties, but also the concerned officials of agencies like ED/IT and CBI etc., who appear to be part of this conspiracy.’
