Due to heavy rain in Delhi, many areas are waterlogged, traffic jam on Ring Road, see

Heavy monsoon rains pounded Delhi on Friday, causing widespread waterlogging, traffic disruptions, and flooding in low-lying areas across the city. The national capital received 228 mm of rainfall in the past 24 hours, more than three times the June rainfall average, making it the highest for the month since 1936.

Many areas in Delhi were flooded, with water entering houses in several low-lying locations. Key roads, including Delhi Meerut Highway, Naraina-Moti Bagh road near Dhaula Kuan Flyover, Vir Banda Bairagi Marg at Azad Market underpass, Tilak Bridge, Aurobindo Marg, Anuvrat Marg, ITO, and many roads leading to AIIMS, were submerged, leading to massive traffic jams.

The civic agencies and police received over 300 complaints regarding waterlogging issues from across the city. Traffic movement was severely affected, with several vehicles stuck on flooded roads and underpasses during the morning rush hour.

The heavy rains also caused power cuts in many areas due to technical faults and precautionary shutdowns in waterlogged areas. Several trees were uprooted, causing damage to properties and parked cars.

The Delhi government has set up a 24-hour control room to monitor the waterlogging situation. Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena directed officials to set up an emergency control room and deploy static pumps to address waterlogging reports.

The monsoon has arrived in the national capital, and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated that conditions are likely to remain favorable for the advancement of the southwest monsoon in Delhi during the next two to three days.
