Villagers crossing the Bhagirathi river

At the same time, a video of villagers of Syuna village, just 4 km away from Uttarkashi headquarters, has surfaced. In this video, villagers can be seen crossing the Bhagirathi river risking their lives. At this time, the Bhagirathi river is flowing in spate. Syuna village is just 4 km away from Uttarkashi district headquarters. More than 35 families live in this village of Bhatwadi block. For the past several years, villagers have been demanding to connect the village with a suspension bridge or road, but their demand has not been fulfilled till date.

Heavy rain in Uttarakhand

Let us tell you that rain continued at various places in Uttarakhand on Friday as well, due to which many rivers and streams including Ganga and Yamuna were in spate, while 106 tourists trapped after a foot bridge in Madmaheshwar was washed away in the rain were rescued safely. Officials said here that due to continuous rain, the Ganga river is flowing above the danger mark in Haridwar district, due to which the flood posts built on the river bank have been alerted. Due to heavy rain, a bridge in Gondar on the footpath of Madmaheshwar, situated at an altitude of about 11 thousand feet in Rudraprayag district, was washed away, due to which more than 100 tourists got trapped there.

Yamuna river water level increased

According to the information received from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), on receiving the information, 106 tourists including five women trapped there were evacuated safely with the help of helicopter. He said that due to heavy rains in Janki Chatti near Yamunotri Dham in Uttarkashi district, the water level of Yamuna river increased, which also damaged the office and kitchen of the temple committee located in the Yamunotri temple complex. The river water also came into the parking area of ​​​​Janki Chatti, in which some two-wheelers were washed away. The areas around the river have been evacuated by SDRF and police from the point of view of safety. Barkot Sub-Divisional Magistrate Mukesh Chandra Ramola said that there was no loss of life due to the river water but there was damage to the properties, which will be assessed soon.

Traffic disrupted due to landslide

In Uttarkashi district itself, traffic was disrupted due to a landslide from a hill near Thirang ahead of Bhatwadi on the Gangotri National Highway. A motorcycle also got buried in the debris due to the landslide. However, the motorcyclist survived the incident safely. Heavy rains occurred in Jakhana, Toli and Genbali villages in Budhakedar of Bhilangana area in Tehri on Thursday night due to which the Balganga river swelled and the fields, bridges and connecting roads of the villagers were damaged by the river water. River water also entered many houses and shops in the villages situated on the roadside. Villagers say that they left their houses in time and came to safe places, otherwise there could have been loss of life.
