Drone Attack Triggers Explosion Near U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv, Injuring Seven

An explosion rocked the Israeli capital of Tel Aviv on Friday, injuring at least seven people. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that the blast was caused by a drone attack.

The explosion occurred near the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv, but no air raid sirens were activated prior to the incident.[4] Footage from the scene showed chaos on the streets, with police and emergency services responding.

According to the IDF, an “aerial target” – a term used for drones – impacted the coastal city, and the military is conducting a thorough investigation into the matter. The IDF also said it would increase patrols by fighter jets “to defend Israeli skies”.

While there were no reports of casualties, paramedics treated a man and a woman for their injuries. The police later stated that a total of seven people were injured in the attack.

Moments after the explosion, a video emerged showing what sounded like a turboprop-driven engine on a drone, before the blast. Another video captured police officials on the streets outside a building damaged by the possible drone attack.

The explosion comes just three days after Israeli airstrikes killed more than 60 Palestinians in southern and central Gaza overnight on Tuesday. One strike hit a main street lined with market stalls in an Israeli-designated “safe zone” for displaced people, while another struck a United Nations-run school where families were sheltering.

The Houthi militant group in Yemen claimed responsibility for the Tel Aviv attack, stating that they would reveal details about a military operation targeting the city.
