China is rapidly increasing the number of its new anti-ship cruise missile YJ-18 in its army. This is so that China can easily deal with local problems through it. This missile is inspired by Russia’s 3M-54E Club missile. It is not yet known whether China has made it alone or in collaboration with Russia. It is also compared with India’s Brahmos and Russia’s Onyx.
The first disclosure about it came in 2009. After this, its testing was started in 2013. While it has been included in the Chinese army since 2015. An attempt has been made to include the long range of the YJ-62 missile and the supersonic speed of the YJ-12 missile in it. That is, overall it is a matter of design.

First it moves slowly, then suddenly the missile moves very fast
This missile has two stages. The first stage has a subsonic turbojet engine so that it can cruise for long distances. After this, its supersonic terminal stage gets activated at a distance of just 40 km from the target. It suddenly catches the speed of 3580 km/hr to 4770 km/hr. That means if the enemy had 2 minutes to escape earlier, then it gets reduced to just 30 seconds.
Can carry many types of weapons, range up to 540 kilometers
The actual range of this missile is 220 to 540 kilometers. A missile can carry 140 to 300 kilograms of weapons, i.e. warheads. Its NATO name is CH-SS-NX-13. The Chinese call it Yingji-18. It can be fired by installing a high explosive warhead or anti-radiation warhead. This damages the enemy’s electronic systems. After damaging their radar and communication systems, a deadly attack can be carried out with another missile.
It has been deployed in many warships and submarines of China
China has deployed this missile in its Type-052D Destroyer and Type 055 Destroyer. Apart from this, it has also been installed in Shang-2 class nuclear submarine. Where it is launched from the Vertical Launching System (VLS). Apart from this, it has also been installed in Song class diesel electric submarine.
