‘Doctor is not available, come after 3 days’, elderly man with broken bones was turned away from hospital, family took him on a cart, VIDEO

A shocking picture has emerged from Bulandshahr in UP, where the family members had to carry an elderly patient on a handcart due to non-availability of an ambulance. The video of carrying the patient on a handcart in the middle of the road is going viral on social media. The opposition is questioning the government and the health minister regarding this. At present, the DM has said that action will be taken after investigating the matter.

According to the family, on Sunday night, the elderly man was taken to Khurja Surajmal Jatiya Hospital but there was no ambulance or stretcher available, let alone treatment. During this time, the patient kept suffering from pain. He was given a painkiller and turned away and was advised to come after three days. He was told that the doctor was not available right now.

In fact, poor labourer Gyan Chand (87) broke his back bone after falling. When the pain increased, his family took him to the government Surajmal Jatiya Hospital in Khurja for treatment. It was night time so no orthopedic doctor was available there. After much pleading, the staff gave the patient a painkiller and sent him away. No other facility like ambulance or stretcher was available. The family left Gyan Chand on a handcart because they did not have the money to pay the fees of a private hospital.

When the video went viral, the Bulandshahr DM asked the SDM to investigate the matter on X. At around 11 pm, on the instructions of the Khurja DM, the SDM reached the house of the family seeking treatment and recorded everyone’s statements and obtained information. The DM wrote on X – In the said case, the in-charge has informed that the family had met the doctor at the emergency center. The patient’s medicine was taken from there. At present, after investigation, action will be taken as per the rules.

Meanwhile, CMO Bulandshahr Vinay Kumar Singh said that the matter is under cognizance. Orthopedic surgeon and CMS Anil Kumar are out for two days training. The patient’s family members had reached the emergency room, but the emergency staff was negligent. SDM is investigating this matter. Along with this, a departmental inquiry will also be conducted. Action will be taken against the guilty.
