The train derailed due to the sinking of the track.

Trains are running on diverted routes after the accident

After this incident, the movement of trains on this railway route has been blocked. Trains are being run on a diverted route. This is one of the busiest train routes for Delhi-Bihar. Most of the trains going from Delhi to Bihar enter Bihar via Kanpur, Lucknow, Gonda, Gorakhpur. The route of the following trains running on this section has been changed-

On the accident, the railway said that the rail accident took place between Motiganj and Jhilahi railway stations on the Gonda-Gorakhpur rail section of Northeast Railway. Several coaches of the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express train derailed in the afternoon. As soon as the information about the accident was received, senior railway and police officials left for the spot.

This train reached Jhilahi station at 2:26

Reports said that the train left Gonda Junction at 2 pm. It reached Jhilahi station at 2:26 pm. During this time, the train jolted. There was a sound like a bomb blast. After this, the train started derailing. People started getting trapped in it as four to five bogies overturned. AC bogies suffered the most damage in this accident. People were sitting in sleeper bogies due to overcrowding.
