‘Deposit illegal weapons within 7 days’, interim government’s order to Bangladesh protesters

After the formation of the interim government in Bangladesh, efforts to establish peace are now beginning. Brigadier General (Retired) M Sakhawat Hussain, Home Affairs Advisor to the Interim Government of Bangladesh, has asked the protesters to surrender all illegal weapons by August 19. These also include rifles looted from the security forces during the recent violence.

According to a report in Bangladeshi media Daily Star, Hussain said that if the looted weapons are not returned to the nearest police stations, the officers will conduct searches. If anyone is found to be carrying unauthorized weapons during the search operation, a case will be registered against him.

Hussain said this while meeting paramilitary Bangladesh Ansar members at the Joint Military Hospital. A large number of paramilitary personnel have been injured in the violence during the student protests. In fact, the movement that started against reservation in Bangladesh had become a problem for Sheikh Hasina’s chair, after which Sheikh Hasina resigned from the post of Prime Minister of Bangladesh a week ago.

After resigning, Sheikh Hasina came to India and is still in India. She has been given security by the Indian government. However, it is not yet clear whether Sheikh Hasina will stay in India for a long time or she will be sent to another country.

Weapons can also be sent through others

Many videos of the violent protests by students against Sheikh Hasina also went viral on social media. In one of these videos, a young man was seen snatching a 7.62 mm rifle. Referring to this video, Hussain said that the rifle has not been returned. If you cannot come to hand over the weapons yourself, then you can send the weapons through someone else.
