Dems lose ground to GOP contenders in key Senate race as voters lock in: Polls

Republican Senate candidates are winning over their Democratic counterparts in new polls in competitive races, closing the gap in support in top contests that will determine which party controls the Senate and holds a large majority.

Republican candidate for Senate in Pennsylvania Dave McCormick, according to a new, top battleground state in Pennsylvania by longtime Sen. Bob Casey Jr., D-Penn. The CNN poll was conducted by SSRS.

Casey’s advantages of having deep roots and a well-known family in Pennsylvania showed signs of eroding against McCormick’s campaign in the survey, with both neck and neck at 46%.

Earlier polls showed McCormick trailing Casey by varying degrees, as analysts noted a name recognition struggle for the former.

However, with the general election less than 10 weeks away, it appears that voters — especially in the top battleground state of Pennsylvania — are tuning out, and those who lean Republican are backing McCormick’s bid.

Pennsylvania isn’t the only state where GOP contenders are closing in on their opponents. in arizona, Former gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake in the new poll, Rep. Ruben Gallego, D-Ariz. challenged, trailing him by just three percentage points, 47% to 44%.

GOP candidates in Wisconsin Eric Hovde and Former Rep. Mike Rogers Even in Michigan, each led their Democratic opponents by single digits. Sen. Tammy Baldwin, D-Wis., polled Howden 51% to 45%, while Rep. Alyssa Slotkin, D-Mich., defeated Rogers 47% to 41%.

In Nevada, Ret. Army Capt. Sam Brown told Sen. Jackie Rosen, D-Nev. registered 10 points behind, who got 50% as they fought to hold on to their seats in the swing state.

The race has been tight across the board as GOP strategists predict average voters will begin to pay attention and throw their support behind GOP candidates as the election approaches.

Senate races in Pennsylvania, Arizona, Wisconsin and Nevada are still considered “lean Democratic” by the top nonpartisan political handicapper. Cook Political Report.

The handicapper rates the Michigan race as a “toss up” with the best chance of being Republican on Election Day.

The tied Senate matchup in Pennsylvania is especially important because strategists believe incumbent Casey will be tied with Democratic presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris with strong intensity, meaning her performance on the battlefield will weigh heavily to pull him up or drag him down.

In a recent CNN poll, former President Donald Trump and Harris also tied at 47%.

The poll surveyed 4,398 registered voters in Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin and asked them both online and by telephone between August 23 and August 29. The margins of error were +/- 4.7% in Pennsylvania and Arizona, +/- 4.9% in Michigan and Nevada, and +/- 4.4% in Wisconsin.
