According to the IMD, the reason for the high rainfall can be attributed to the low pressure area formed in the Bay of Bengal. This system turned into a deep depression, which deeply affected central and northwest India. The remnant cyclonic circulation persisted over northeast Rajasthan region till August 16, which led to continuous moderate rainfall in Delhi from August 7 to 16. These conditions have resulted in an exceptional monsoon season in the region.
