According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), 203 mm of rain has been recorded in the national capital between July 1 and 30. Last year, 384 mm of rain was recorded during the entire month of July. The rainfall in July 2023 was 83 percent more than the normal rainfall. Let us tell you that Delhi had to face the worst situation like flood due to heavy rains in July last year.

The weather office has also predicted light to moderate rain for Wednesday and there is a heavy rain alert in many areas here. The Meteorological Department has issued an ‘orange’ alert, which indicates a “stay alert” situation. Apart from Delhi, there is a heavy rain alert in its surrounding areas today. There is a possibility of heavy rain in Noida today. At the same time, there will be heavy rain in Ghaziabad today and tomorrow (31 July-1 August). However, there is no possibility of much rain in Gurugram, Haryana.

Rain in June broke 88 years old record

According to weather officials, this year the monsoon arrived in Delhi on June 28. On the very first day, the city recorded 228 mm of rain in 24 hours, the highest rainfall in a single day in June in 88 years. Heavy rains brought the national capital to a standstill, flooded roads and cancelled flights after a roof collapsed in the parking lot of Terminal-1 of the international airport.

This time Delhi is battling severe humidity

According to IMD data, 17 rainy days were recorded in July, which is less than 19 in both 2023 and 2022 and 18 in 2021. Experts say that Delhi usually receives about 650 mm of rain during the monsoon season. Delhi is also facing severe humidity this month, despite there being no heat wave on any day. The average maximum temperature this month has been 35.8 degrees Celsius.
