Due to rain on Saturday evening in Delhi, a tragic accident occurred due to water filling in the basement of RAU’S IAS Coaching Center in Old Rajendra Nagar. The basement filled with water so fast that the students did not even get a chance to recover. 3 students died due to drowning due to waterlogging. Now the investigation of this accident is going on. The police have arrested the coaching center owner Abhishek Gupta and the coordinator. At the same time, Aam Aadmi Party MLA Durgesh Pathak said that MCD has started sealing illegal coaching and commercial institutes. We will not spare anyone involved in any illegal activity in this action. He said that we will set an example so that such unfortunate incidents do not happen.
Regarding the coaching centre incident, MCD Additional Commissioner Tariq Thomas said that we have started action since evening, three basements (coaching centres running in basements) have been sealed, we will take further action in the coming days. We have identified 8 coaching centres running in basements, out of which 3 have been sealed. He said that a survey is being conducted by us. The government has ordered a magisterial inquiry.
On the other hand, the National Commission for Women has taken cognizance of the incident. The Commission said that the allegations of ignoring the appeals made for cleaning the drain are worrying. In this case, the Commission for Women has directed AAP MLA Durgesh Pathak to appear in person. It has also been said that appropriate action will be taken in case of non-compliance.
