The MCD has said that the basements of 13 civil service institutes have been sealed on Sunday. Aam Aadmi Party MLA Durgesh Pathak has also informed about the action. He said, MCD has started sealing illegal coaching and commercial institutes. We will not spare anyone involved in illegal activity. We will set an example so that such unfortunate incidents do not happen.

Meanwhile, Additional Commissioner of MCD Tariq Thomas said, we have started taking action since evening. Three basements (coaching centres running in basements) have been closed and we will take further action in the coming days, the government has ordered an inquiry. Let us tell you, three students died by drowning in the coaching centre accident that happened on Saturday night.

Delhi Police registered FIR

After the coaching centre incident, Delhi Police has also registered an FIR. Several committees have also been formed to investigate the incident. Police have also arrested the owner and coordinator of Rao IAS Study Circle and have registered a case against them under various charges including culpable homicide. Officials said, we have asked Delhi Fire Services to provide a report about the building and the basement which was being used as a library but was shown as a store room.

Students did not get a chance to leave

According to officials, after the rain on Saturday evening, the basement of Rao IAS suddenly started filling with water. 18 students were present there because there was a library there. The water came so fast that three students got trapped there and died by drowning. According to officials, the basement was eight feet below the ground level.
