Rau Coaching Centre, The Delhi government will bring a law to regulate coaching centres operating in the city. Cabinet Minister Atishi gave this information on Wednesday. Three civil service aspirants died last week due to rainwater filling in the basement of a coaching centre building in Old Rajendra Nagar area of the national capital. Atishi said in a press conference that the government will form a committee to formulate the law, which will include government officials and candidates of various coaching centres. She said that the law will have provisions regarding infrastructure, qualification of teachers, fee regulation and prohibition of dissemination of misleading advertisements. Public feedback will also be sought.

MCD took action against coaching centers

Atishi said that the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has taken action against coaching centres violating the laws and using basements. She said that the basements of 30 coaching centres in Rajendra Nagar, Mukherjee Nagar, Laxmi Nagar and Preet Vihar have been sealed, while notices have been issued to 200 other coaching centres. Atishi said that the report of the magistrate inquiry into the incident in Old Rajendra Nagar will come in the next six days. She said that if any officer is found guilty in this incident, strict action will be taken against him. The incident in Old Rajendra Nagar happened due to illegal use of the building.

According to Atishi, the investigation will also reveal which officer ignored the complaint sent by an IAS aspirant to the MCD (Municipal Corporation of Delhi) about the illegal use of the basement in the ‘Rao IAS Study Circle’. He said that the magisterial inquiry will also find out which officer was in charge of the complaint portal where the complaint was uploaded and why and how the complaint was ignored. A civil service aspirant from Gwalior claimed on Monday that he had complained to the MCD about the illegal use of the basement of the institute and had sent letters in this regard on July 15 and 22, but no action was taken in the matter.
