There was a stir in Delhi when the body of a seven-year-old innocent child who had suddenly gone missing from his home was found. His body was found in an open drain. The child’s family had gone to the police station on Sunday and filed a missing person’s complaint. Since then the police was conducting a search operation. But during this time, the police received information about the child’s body being found in the drain.

This case is from Ashok Vihar in North-West Delhi, where seven-year-old Prince suddenly went missing from outside his house. Giving information about this case, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West) Jitendra Meena told PTI that Prince was playing near his house on Sunday afternoon, when he went missing. The DCP said on Monday that an FIR was registered at the concerned police station under sections of negligence.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Jitendra Meena further said that the victim’s family had lodged a missing complaint on Sunday and after this the police launched a search operation. While the police were searching for the child, someone informed the police that Prince was seen playing near a drain, which was open. After this, the police recovered his body from the drain on Sunday evening.

DCP Meena said that after Prince’s body was recovered, it was sent for postmortem. Later, the body was handed over to his family. He said that an FIR has been registered against unknown people in Wazirpur police station under sections related to negligence.

Prince’s family alleged that they lost their son because the drain was left open. They also said that their son often went to the drain to defecate as there was no proper toilet in their area.

Prince’s parents are labourers and he has a younger brother. They live in JJ Cluster, A Block, Wazirpur Industrial Area. Prince was a class two student in a government school. Family members have blamed municipal corporation officials for their son’s death.

Police said that it was a five feet deep drain and they had to take the help of divers to retrieve the body. Officials said that police are also investigating whether the boy was pushed into the drain by someone or he fell accidentally.
