Delhi Police sent notice to MCD.

Delhi coaching centre accident: After the coaching centre accident in Old Rajendra Nagar, Delhi Police Delhi Municipal Corporation A notice has been sent to them. In this notice, many questions have been asked from the MCD officials. For example, which official is responsible for the drainage system in Rajendra Nagar area? Who looks after the cleaning work here? Was the work given on contract to any organization? Delhi Police has also asked for the relevant documents to investigate the case registered in this incident. If sources are to be believed, MCD officials may also be questioned after the notice.

Sources said that Delhi Police may question MCD officials about desilting the drains and issuing a No Objection Certificate to Rao IAS Study Circle. Sources said that if required during the investigation, the concerned officials may be called for questioning. It is the responsibility of MCD to desilt the storm drains. It is alleged that the alleged drainage system near this coaching centre in Old Rajendra Nagar was not working properly due to which rainwater collected on the road and entered the basement of the coaching centre building.

Delhi Police will also ask for occupancy certificate

Sources said the police will also seek an occupancy certificate from the MCD, in which the basement owner had reportedly stated that the space would be used for parking and storage of goods. Police said the basement owner was using it for a library and had also installed a biometric system at the entrance.

The complaint was made a month ago

Sources said that during the investigation, the police found that a civil service aspirant had lodged a complaint with the Delhi government a month ago that the basement was being operated illegally. However, it was of no use. A senior officer said that some more people are under investigation who are suspected to be responsible for the incident. They may be arrested or summoned soon.

Delhi Police has registered an FIR

The Delhi Police has registered an FIR and formed several teams to investigate the incident. The owner and convener of Rao IAS Study Circle have been arrested and booked under charges of culpable homicide and other charges. Both the accused were sent to Tihar on Sunday for 14 days’ judicial custody. The FIR said that due to the drainage system not working properly, a large amount of rainwater collected on the road and entered the basement of the four-storey building which housed the library. As there was no drainage system in the basement, it took more than five hours for the authorities to pump out the water during the rescue operation.
