What is in the Chief Secretary’s report?
The report submitted by the Chief Secretary on the Delhi coaching incident has exposed the negligence of the coaching institute as well as the official. The report states that the coaching institute had completely blocked the drainage and had not taken additional safety measures to deal with such incidents. The parking path of the institute is directly connected to the road and in case of heavy rains, the water directly enters this parking area instead of going into the stormwater drain. Apart from this, no vigilance was taken by the security staff, as a result of which the water crossed the parking area without stopping and entered the basement and ultimately took the lives of three promising children.
Responsible officers were punished
The chief secretary’s report further states that the Assistant Engineer (M-1)/KBZ responsible for the maintenance of the drainage system of Old Rajendra Nagar has been suspended with immediate effect and the services of Junior Engineer (M-1)/KBZ have been terminated with immediate effect. A show cause notice has been issued to the Executive Engineer (M-1) seeking explanation on the incident.
