Delhi: Action on illegal e-rickshaws, Transport Department crushed 114 rickshaws

The Transport Department has crushed 114 e-rickshaws while tightening its grip on illegal e-rickshaw drivers plying on the roads of Delhi. After receiving continuous complaints, the Transport Department had confiscated the illegally running e-rickshaws and collected them (e-rickshaws) in Burari and crushed them with a JCB last Friday.

After the continuous incidents, the Transport Department has focused its entire attention on illegal e-rickshaws. There are around 1 lakh 60 thousand e-rickshaws running in Delhi, which include a large number of illegal e-rickshaws, which have neither license nor permit.

Aaj Tak had run a special campaign regarding this, in which it was told how these e-rickshaws run dangerously on the roads of Delhi, putting people’s lives at risk. Also, there were constant complaints about e-rickshaw drivers completely occupying the roads.

Complaints of electricity theft have also been received

Aaj Tak also revealed in its news how these illegal e-rickshaws openly steal electricity on the roads. Due to which the electricity companies are incurring a loss of about Rs 120 crore and this loss is recovered from the people of Delhi.

It costs 8 to 10 units to charge an e-rickshaw, but these rickshaw mafias charge the rickshaws by stealing electricity from the electricity poles, due to which many accidents happened in Delhi recently and a 7-year-old child and a 40-year-old man died due to electric shock in the e-rickshaw.
