‘Dalit society forced to live in an atmosphere of insecurity’, Rahul Gandhi’s letter to CM Yogi in Arjun Pasi murder case

Rahul Gandhi has written a letter to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath regarding the Arjun Pasi murder case in Rae Bareli, UP. In this, he has expressed concern over the main accused still absconding. In the letter written to CM Yogi, Rahul wrote, “You will know that Arjun Pasi, a resident of village Pichwariya, police station Nasirabad under my parliamentary district Rae Bareli, was shot dead on 11 August 2024.”

He further wrote, “Last week when I went to the house of the victim’s family to express my condolences, the family members informed me about the developments and said that out of the seven named accused in the incident, 6 accused have been arrested, but the main accused Vishal has not been arrested yet. It was also brought to my notice by the family members and other villagers that Vishal Singh enjoys political protection, due to which he is not being arrested.”

Rahul Gandhi said that after meeting the victim’s family, I met the local District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police on the same day and talked to them about the incident and also made them aware of the seriousness of the matter. Even after two weeks of the incident, the main accused has not been arrested yet and the victim’s family and the local Dalit community are forced to live in an atmosphere of fear and insecurity. Also, an extremely poor, exploited, Dalit family is being deprived of justice.
