Court reserves decision on petition seeking custody of AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan

A Delhi court on Monday reserved its order on the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) plea seeking 10-day custody of Aam Aadmi Party MLA Amanatullah Khan in a money laundering case. The ED produced Amanatullah Khan before Special Judge Rakesh Syal a few hours after arresting him from his house and said that it is necessary to confront him with other accused and evidence in the case. The lawyer appearing for Amanatullah Khan challenged his arrest in the case.

The investigating agency had detained Amanatullah under the provisions of PMLA at 11.20 am on Monday morning after conducting searches at his residence in Delhi’s Okhla area. The ED told the court that during the search, the AAP MLA was asked some questions, but he kept avoiding answers and hence he was arrested. The ED told the court that Amanatullah Khan is the main accused in this entire case. It also said that the proceeds of crime have been used to buy property and legalize it. Cash has also been used in this. The ED said that an attempt was made to mislead the investigating agency.
