Complaint filed in Allahabad High Court against Keshav Maurya for his statement ‘Party is bigger than the government’

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya had given a statement recently regarding the turmoil in the party. He had said that the organization is bigger than the government. Now a petition has been filed in the Allahabad High Court regarding his statement. This petition has been filed by lawyer Manjesh Kumar Yadav. In which it has been said that Maurya’s comment reduces the dignity of his post and raises doubts on the transparency and purity of the government.

Maurya’s criminal history has also been mentioned in the petition

The petition states that the lack of any response or denial from the BJP, the Governor and the Election Commission on this statement further complicates the issue. Apart from this, the petition also mentions Maurya’s criminal history, stating that before his appointment as Deputy Chief Minister, seven criminal cases were registered against him.

The petition argues that appointing a person with such a record to a constitutional post is inappropriate and sets a dangerous precedent. Speaking to news agency Bhasha regarding the petition, the petitioner said that the petition has been filed in the registry of Allahabad High Court and it is likely to be listed in the court in the next few days.

Maurya gave this statement

Addressing the one-day state working committee meeting of BJP on July 14, Maurya said, “The organization was bigger than the government, is bigger and will always be bigger”. His statement was linked to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. His statement heated up the politics and the opposition also targeted the BJP.

However, at this time Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is busy preparing for the by-elections to be held on 10 assembly seats in the state. The Chief Minister has not given any major responsibility to the two Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Maurya and Brajesh Pathak regarding the by-elections. Let us tell you that there has been a ruckus in the BJP since the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
